As a University of Iowa student, Danny King has the benefit of working with some of the best writers. Danny is currently working on his Bachelor’s Degree in English and Creative Writing while also studying film. Combining his passions for writing and film, he writes and publishes film critiques while he works on his creative writing.
When his “Green Hat Lady” story came back with “Excellent” written across his second grade paper, he was hooked. Danny was overjoyed that someone else appreciated his story and he knew then that he wanted to be a writer.
While in High School, Danny pursued more writing and entertainment opportunities by attending classes at Story Studio and Second City in Chicago. Instructors at Chicago’s Story Studio told him about the competitive Iowa Young Writer’s Workshop at the University of Iowa that occurs every summer. Danny sent some writing samples along with his application and was rewarded with a spot in the workshop. Those two weeks were the highlight of his school career and he knew then that he was going to attend the University of Iowa to further study writing. Now Danny is in his senior year at University of Iowa studying English and Creative Writing along with Cinema studies.
Danny had a great 2019 summer as an intern at ICM Partners in Los Angeles, where he was able to see different aspects of the entertainment business.
In addition to his pursuit of writing, Danny enjoys watching films and many television shows, so writing entertainment reviews is a perfect fit.
